По некоторым данным, главный тренер красно-белых Массимо Каррера рассматривал покупку Монтойи в качестве основного усиления в текущее трансферное окно. По утверждениям источников, 26-летний Мартин отказался от зарплаты, которую превышает его нынешнюю в четыре раза.
В прошедшем сезоне Монтойя провел за «летучих мышей» 30 матчей. В этих встречах он отличился двумя голами и одним результативным пасом.
